fun facts

• Grew up in Minocqua, Wi where I would be found on my snowmobile, motorcycle, or skeet shooting for fun.
• Sick obsession with speed, and snow...,so it's only logical I love snowmobiling and Indy cars.
• Jaws ruined the water for me. I'm reminded by my grandkids "YaYa, it's a dolphin!!!! Not a shark!"

Kit DeWitt is the founder and visionary behind KDI Design. With a career spanning more than three decades, Kit began her journey at Murphy/Jahn Architects, contributing to some of Chicago’s most iconic projects before moving into development and commercial interiors. Her experience in both design and business laid the foundation for launching KDI in 2004, where she blended creativity, strategy, and a client-first mindset to build a thriving firm.

For over 20 years, Kit served as Principal and Lead Designer, guiding KDI’s growth and shaping its reputation for delivering bold, functional spaces. Now semi-retired, she takes immense pride in seeing KDI flourish under the leadership of her daughter, Ginny, who carries forward the family’s vision and values. Kit remains a trusted advisor to the team, offering insight and mentorship while celebrating the company’s continued evolution.
